Big weekend for the Woodbend Oil Kings

The Oil Kings opened the weekend Saturday night in Fort Saskatchewan. The Oil Kings came ready to play and came out of the gates strong. Chase Christensen put us on the board early, Owen Stang followed suit giving us  a 2-0 lead after the first period.

The Oil Kings kept pouring it on and led 6-1 after two periods. Nothing could slow us down and we kept pace for the third with a victorious 8-1 win. Chase Christensen and Dawson Madden each potted two goals against the Rangers.

Sunday the Oil Kings travelled to Bonneyville, for a first place matchup against the unbeaten Lloydminster Bobcats. The Oil Kings came out of the gates flying again and held a 2-0 lead after the first period. The second period was a run and gun period going back and forth, when all was said and done the oil kings took a 7-3 lead going into the third period. The Oil Kings ended up with an 8-4 win. A four point weekend for the Oil Kings, holding on strong to first place in the Charger North division. It was an extremely successful weekend for the Woodbend Oil Kings. Ty Sauer and Chase Christensen each scored twice, it was a great teamwork for the win, by the whole team. Next the Oil Kings will face the Spruce Grove saints next Saturday.
