Bantam Oil Kings Advance
The Woodbend Bantam AAA Oil Kings finished the AMBHL in 3rd place in the North Charger Division. The Oil Kings first round match-up was against the 2nd place Grande Prairie Storm who they were 0-4 against in the regular season.
Game 1 was on a Tuesday night in Grande Prairie and the Oil Kings went down 3-1 early before rallying to score 4 unanswered goals to make it 5-3. The Storm ended up scoring 3 goals of their own in the 3rd period and won Game 1 6-5.
Game 2 was scheduled for the next night in Leduc and GP came out fast out-shooting the Oil Kings 27-12 in the 1st period and leading 1-0 and taking an early 2-0 lead in the 2nd period. The team finally woke up and took over the game on their home ice scoring 5 goals to win the game 5-2 forcing a Game 3.
In Game 3 the Oil Kings needed overtime but were able to win the series 2-1 thanks to 2-1 in Grande Prairie.
The Oil Kings now face 1st Place Lloydminster in the Division Final Best of 3 Series.
